We had a great July 3rd FUNdraiser

The best laid plans o' mice and men gang aft agley (R.Burns)!!

In spite of the pending thunderstorms, which didn't happen, our July 3rd event on the Common went very well:
  • The train was a roaring success and the last ride was at around 9pm! For once, all those who wanted a ride got one.
  • The balloon was not as successful: we started late because of weather uncertainties and finished after only 8 ascents, for the same reason
  • The chicken and fries guys .... well, they called in the morning to .... wait for it ..... Drum Roll please .... Chicken Out, for the same reason.
So it goes! Maybe we'll try some new entertainments next year.

Thanks to all who helped.

July 4th is almost upon us!

Join us on the Common in Chelmsford for some fun for everyone:
  • On July 3rd from 5pm there will be hot-air balloon rides until the gas runs out
  • We also have train rides for the kids
  • AND a fried-dough stand
The proceeds from these events go directly to our support for local worthy causes and for our support for the troops.

Rotarians! We can use all the help we can get to make these events a success!

Happy July 4th!!!

Al Thomas takes over as our new President

On June 20th, we had a great ceremony and party at John and Linda Taylor's house, where we celebrated the success and accomplishments of the Club during the past year, under John's leadership, and welcomed Al in as our new President.

If you weren't there, you missed a great time!

Thank you, Linda and John, for a wonderful evening!!

The Chelmsford Rotary Cabin at Camp Paul

Now that's a better picture. If your club would like to do something like this for children with disabilities, contact Charles Keen, John Taylor or Denise Marcaurelle through the Chelmsford Club website Members page.

Web site back in operation

So you can find out, for example, who is speaking to us and when, and maybe come and do a make-up with us if you're interested!

A New Rotary year is starting....

On Saturday June 20th at 7pm - yes, this Saturday - we will be having our Installation Party for our new president, W. Allen Thomas and his Board. All Rotarians are welcome but please, if you intend to celebrate with us, call or email and let us know. You should contact John Taylor, our current president, and you can email him by clicking his entry at http://www.chelmsfordrotary.org/officers.php

Sorry for the long silence...

Wow! It really seems like a long time.... and it is. A lot of great stuff has happened and we're still very much alive and kicking.

Just in time for the end of John Taylor's year as president, we just about completed the new cabin/classroom for Camp Paul. This picture is from the construction phase but it's now finished and, as soon as I can get a better picture, I'll show it here.

If you don't know about Camp Paul, they do wonderful things for kids with all kinds of disabilities and challenges: http://www.thepaulcenter.org/

OOPS _ I broke our website

Our main website http://www.chelsmfordrotary.org will be seriously dysfunctional for a while. One simple slip in a command to a very powerful file management program, corrupted our website along with eight other pro bono charity websites that I run from the same internet service provider.

I'm sure there are several morals in this, most of them too obvious to spell out!!

Life has just become very busy....

Duh!

More on the concert

Tickets are selling and we have been surprised at just how many come from South of Boston and elsewhere, far afield. Clearly, the BeanTown band has a big following from all over New England.

The concert starts at 8p.m. on March 6th and we expect to have the doors open at about 7p.m., so early birds can get the seats of their choice.

There are still tickets left for sale.

There aren't many evenings of entertainment that still cost $20 - and the proceeds go to help people in need - so come and join in the fun and bring your friends along, too!

Come and enjoy the music on March 6th!

Welcome to the Chelmsford Rotary Blog.

We're all very excited about our upcoming concert at the new Performing Arts Center at Chelmsford High School on Friday March 6th. Come and join us for the fun and the music.

We have two great bands, Beantown and Syncopation, coming to Chelmsford for the evening: they play everything - I've heard Beantown and they are just fantastic.

Tickets are only $20 and the proceeds will help Chelmsford Rotary in its support of local charities, our troops in Iraq, and other National and International charitable work that we support.
